A content calendar template for restaurants
A four-week posting calendar you can copy: repeating slots by post type, filled from a ready video library in one sitting instead of a monthly shoot.
A calendar is not a schedule of clever ideas. It is a set of repeating slots, so that "what do we post today" stops being a daily question. Copy the table below, fill the slots from your video library and your own phone, and reuse the grid every month.
The four-week grid
| Week | Monday | Wednesday | Friday | Weekend |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Signature dish, close-up | Behind the counter | Weekend special announcement | Room atmosphere |
| 2 | Seasonal ingredient | Staff pick | Drink or dessert | Regulars / queue moment |
| 3 | New or returning item | How a dish looks plated | Weekend special announcement | Neighbourhood / suppliers |
| 4 | Best performer from week 1 | Useful info (hours, booking) | Drink or dessert | Month recap or thank-you |
Four slots a week is three to five posts once you add the odd extra — the cadence that actually holds (see the guide on posting frequency).
Fill the slots from a library, not a shoot
Each slot has a type, not a specific dish — that is the whole trick. When Friday says "drink or dessert", any drink or dessert works, and picking one from the desserts collection takes a minute. A month needs roughly sixteen posts; ten saved clips from the library plus whatever happens naturally in your room covers it comfortably.
The dish slots are the ones a library fills best: signature dish, seasonal ingredient, drink or dessert — pick clips that look like your menu, in one sitting, for the whole month. The room slots — the counter, the queue, the regulars — stay yours: a thirty-second phone video of a real moment beats anything planned, and the calendar is built so those slots are covered even when the moment does not come.
What to write under it
One sentence about the thing, one reason to come in. Skip the hashtag walls — they have not helped for years and they make a caption look like an advert.
When to break the calendar
When something real happens: a supplier bringing the first strawberries, a queue around the corner, a regular's dog at the door. Real moments outperform planned ones every time. The calendar exists so that the days without them are still covered.
Set up your month in one sitting
Open the library, pick a clip for every dish slot of the month — pizza, burgers, whatever matches your menu — and the calendar is no longer a plan. It is a queue.
Questions
- How far ahead should a restaurant plan content?
- Four weeks of slots by type, not by specific dish. Slots repeat monthly; what fills them changes with the season and what you actually cook.
- How many clips do I need for a month?
- About sixteen posts a month. Ten clips picked from the library in one sitting, plus whatever happens naturally in your room, covers it comfortably.
- Should I still post if nothing interesting happened?
- Yes — that is what the calendar is for. The slot tells you the type of post, and the library means the material for it already exists.
